Have been putting if off but (mostly) cleaned up my camera roll so here’s a photo dump from my very short and very unplanned adventure to Croatia 🇭🇷

Was by myself and usually pressed for time or with family so not a lot of quality photography happened🙃 Loved being surrounded by my culture and language that I don’t get much of here, so did my best to enjoy the beach as much as possible and do a little exploring!

On top of that almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong, the highlight of which was missing a flight that turned the 30 hour trip into a 45 hour trip. But I’m glad I could make it happen and spend time with family - especially my grandma which is why I went.

For most of August I’ll be taking a break from tattooing and being on here - I’ve decided to fly to Europe for a bit of a family emergency so am visiting them in Croatia super last minute.

This post is a bit late as I’ve only just gotten some time to myself so apologies again to everyone I’ve had to shuffle around, and thanks for your patience while I lost my marbles (and that’s and understatement, I didn’t even have a passport) trying to organise this all in less than two weeks!

I’ll be doing as much as I can in the background - still responding to emails and messages but a lot slower than usual. Will be taking this time to be with my family, my grandma, eat way too much burek and enjoy myself in the motherland 🫡

Originally I was just going to throw my plants in the cabinet and the most effort I planned to put in was sealing all the gaps and mounting a grow light.

I realised that would be MORE maintenance to keep the temp and humidity at the right levels; mister or humidifier, dehumidifier or a fan, a humidity and temp reader so it does it all automatically? What if I open the door, will it screw it all up?

The whole point of this was to make less work taking care of my plants, so I decided might as well go all in and make it as self sustaining as possible even if that’s 10x the work right now 🤷‍♀️

The plan:

- Seal the base so it can be filled with water and shrimp, they will keep the water clean and a water pump will keep it circulating.

- Run a hidden tube through the foam backing that will spit the water out at the tip of the channel I’ve carved, and then run down as a waterfall BACK into the bottom.

- The running water plus the grow light should keep temps and humidity nice and high all the time!

- Mount a grate (somehow) above the water layer, that will be covered in dirt and serve as a place to directly plant stuff into. The grate will allow drainage back into the water layer.

- Add springtails (bugs) that are natural recyclers and will feed on decaying plant matter, mold and bacteria. They’ll stop the wood inside from rotting and also keep the soil full of nutrients!

I think I’ve already filmed enough for a part 2 which involved a lot of almost knocking myself out with silicone fumes and mishaps with glass, so stay tuned for more progress!
